This page will be dedicated to some of the many ways the Gang in the Ivory Tower has wasted our Tax Money.

August 23, 2008

Many of you more than likely have seen the new SoHo apartments for lower income folks over on Ventura ave near the corner of Vince street.

It consist of 8 two bedroom and 4 three bedroom units and 721 sq ft of commercial space.  These units will be for low income family's which will be eligible for supportive services through the Family Self-Sufficiency Program.

The group that built the apartments is the "Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura" it is supposedly independent from the city.  The housing authority serves more than 5000 low-income residents and seniors.  It owns and operates 716 public housing units and admnisters the Section 8 voucher program in Ventura.

"The Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura" is a state chartered, federally funded, non-profit public agency, with a locally appointed board of commissioneers managing and administering housing assistance programs to provide decen, safe, and affordable housing to low and moderate income families.  (Note it says Federally Funded, not City Funded.)

The Housing Authority also owed large amount of money to the County of Ventura and the Local School District.  When asked if they would also forgive these debts the County and School district declined but said they would allow more time to repay.

My opinion is that by forgiving this debt of Tax Money owed by the Housing Authority the Gang in the Ivory Tower is quilty of the illegal act of "giving of public money".

The city however appoints all commissioners, oversees the programs, issues permits, and the latest kick is they have forgiven a $500,000 loan of our Tax Money that was a debt owed by the Housing Authority to the city of Ventura.

RedfFex Dollar Grab

In the way back, around July of 2008 I sent a request for information to the city asking how many tickets the RedFlex system generated yearly and what the dollar amount they took in ws versus the dollar amount given to the city.  RedFlex is the company that installed the red light cameras.  This is the actual reply from Lt Fenwick of the Ventura Police dept.

Mr Smith,

After speaking to you I've provided the info you asked for, for the fiscal year 07/08.

Citations collected 4302

RedFlex revenue $418,409

City of Ventura Revenue $179,568

Regards

Quinn Fenwick

So as you can see the RedFlex company was making almost 3 times the money that the City of Ventura was.

Out of the cities share we pay for an officer and a half time civilian to manage the program.  The civilian handles paperwork, manages discovery and citation approval while the officer handles court, so the city is lucky if they cover their cost.  While RedFlex smiles all the way to the bank.
